Several men fish in a countryside canal. Some string nets across the entire stream. Others use electric probes that stun anything with gills. (The electrofishing method isn’t legal but alas also isn’t rare.)
I watch for a while and I wonder how this body of water still contains any fish. They don’t seem to stand a chance.

This country both charms and discourages me.
